I’ve been heavily involved in live music for several decades, and have played every possible type of gig there is to play--from rock n’ roll, to country, acoustic jazz, brazilian, big band, metal, pop, polka, you name it, I’ve probably played it somewhere, sometime. I bring these experiences to the studio--where the focus is the big picture, and the goal of creating a representation of the artist’s music--the big picture, the music as a whole, not just the sum of the parts. See, it’s my job as a working musician to keep in mind the end result--from the audience’s perspective, not just my contribution. I feel this approach works in the studio as well.
